Bio
I am a Brazilian climate scientist with a background in oceanography and a passion for understanding the climate system and contributing to practical solutions for sustainable development and climate change resilience. I’ve previously worked as a Climate Risk Analyst in the finance and insurance sector, supporting disaster risk reduction efforts. Outside of research, I enjoy outdoor activities—especially sport climbing.
Research Interests
My research focuses on the variability and predictability of the European climate, with a particular emphasis on summer extremes. I combine causality inference techniques and machine learning to improve the credibility of climate predictions. I’m especially interested in the role of large-scale atmospheric patterns, land–atmosphere interactions, and how these insights can inform early warning systems, climate services, and adaptation strategies. I am currently a researcher on the Horizon Europe project EXPECT: Towards an Integrated Capability to Explain and Predict Regional Climate, which aims to advance understanding and prediction of regional climate variability and extremes.
